NHL’s Theo Fluery talks about being sexually abused

NHL hockey player Theo Fleury has written a book, Playing With Fire, in the hopes of bringing awareness to issues of sexual abuse. A victim himself, he is speaking out about his own traumatic exprience and wants to empower other victims to get help. Sexually abused by former junior hockey coach Graham James, the same coach that molested Sheldon Kennedy, Fleury says, “It’s an important topic,” in an interview with CBC’s The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos, “…it’s a topic that needs to be talked about more. One in six men are sexually molested at some point in their life, and to me that’s a pretty staggering figure.”
