The death of Cory Monteith
The death of Glee television star Cory Monteith this past weekend was a shock to many. Countless people watch the show, including many tweens, teens and young adults. What many didn’t know was that he suffered from addictions to both drugs and alcohol. After the Glee season ended he entered into a rehabilitation facility hoping to change his life for the better.
His life had its troubles, just as we all do. He had a girlfriend, long time co-star on Glee Lea Michele. She was in full support of him entering rehab to work on his troubles.
The death of Cory brings to light many things.
A few days ago, it was announced his death was caused by an overdose of alcohol and heroin. This tragic accident is an example of how things can get the best of us. Most people hide their struggles whether that be with mental illness, addictions, finances or anything else. Don’t be afraid to speak up, start a conversation and get help.
Getting help isn’t something to be ashamed of. The death of another star has taught us everyone deals with their own issues. No one is alone in their fight. Let’s stand strong and let each other know we’re here for one another. Talk to someone you trust, help someone you know that is having a rough time and support those around you.
